Why We Love Chingford for Kids

Here are a few of our favourite things to do with children in Chingford…

Endless entertainment: As well as loads of local kids clubs, Chingford has some quirky local attractions. Get to Know Animals is a petting zoo where kids can meet Fatbum the hedgehog, Nigel the cheeky cockatoo and even Colin the Madagascan hissing cockroach! The Krazy Kidz Fun Forest is an enchanted forest soft play area for under-fives hidden in Costa Coffee. And Altitude Adventure Sky Trail is a high ropes course where bigger kids can tackle swinging rope bridges or the whole family can enjoy the Jurassic Falls crazy golf course.

Green zones: You can’t beat a walk up Pole Hill for its amazing view of London. Leafy Larkswood Park forms part of an ancient wood with lovely old oak trees. And of course, Epping Forest is just north of Chingford and has miles of paths for walking and cycling, or you can visit Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge. There’s also the lovely Chingford Reservoirs – such a peaceful place to wander and spot birds.

Sporty stuff:  In Chingford you can live in the city but enjoy country pursuits like horse riding! Stables like High Beech Riding School offer lessons for kids and hacking in Epping Forest. Ridgeway Park has facilities to play boules, tennis and table tennis, plus play areas and a putting green. There’s a nice shallow pool for kids learning to swim at Chingford Leisure Centre. And for parents who like golf, Chingford Golf Course was established in 1888 and is still going strong.

Café culture: Station Road has loads of great coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants. The Feel Good Café serves up an all-vegan menu with lovely smoothies and Buddha bowls as well as kid-friendly pancakes. And Jaz and Jetz Kitchen E4 does sweet and savoury crepes and waffles and ‘make your own’ pasta dishes for fussy eaters.
