Our practitioners

ShowKids was founded by Natalie Burton, a qualified Performing Arts teacher living in Hackney. Natalie has taught in primary and secondary schools across the country across all key stages, has worked in TV, film and theatre and has over ten years experience in the education and performing arts industries. Her passion for, and belief in the power of the arts to transform children’s lives inspired her to create a new performing arts company with a difference. Her goal has always been to create immersive and life-changing arts experiences for children, unbound by the constraints of league-tables or restrictive curriculums. Her goal is to create well-rounded individuals who feel competent and confident not only when performing but in their everyday lives.

Natalie Burton – Managing Director

natalie
Natalie’s career, and her love for the arts, have been shaped by her own experiences as a child. She trained and competed regularly in Latin and Ballroom dance for 10 years from a young age, and took part in regular Speech and Drama competitions across the country. She has successfully completed a variety of qualifications herself, including LAMDA accreditations, and recognises the importance of these experiences and the life-skills she gained through them. She is passionate about providing children with these same opportunities to find their confidence and realise their own potential.

Natalie completed a Theatre and Performance degree at Leeds University and a Secondary Drama teaching PGCE at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Prior to ShowKids, Natalie was Head of Drama in a South London School working with children aged 4-18yrs and achieving 91% A*-C grades for GCSE Drama. Her students have gone on to study acting at The University for the Creative Arts, East15 Drama School, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) Natalie has 100% pass rate delivering LAMDA examinations.

Every ShowKids practitioner is recruited by Natalie through a meticulous interview process. At ShowKids we expect our practitioners to share our passions; to be inspiring, supportive, and able to tailor their courses to the needs of all children in their classes. Before working for ShowKids, references are obtained from all of our practitioners and DBS checks completed. Our practitioners will be in regular contact with you throughout your child’s course to ensure you are fully informed on their progress.
