Qualified Expert Practitioners
All of our practitioners are experts in their subject and are either qualified performing arts teachers (PGCE) or successful, trained actors – many with first-hand experience of professional theatre, TV and film. This experience of the Arts Industry, and of mainstream primary and secondary education, allows our practitioners to ensure that all our ShowKids are inspired and challenged in their workshops.
Bespoke Workshops
Our workshops are created by us – for each individual class – to ensure content is relevant, inspiring, and that every child develops at their own pace through skills-based activities and performance opportunities.
Focus on skill development – not just performance
We don’t believe children develop a love for the arts by learning endless lines for half-termly performances. Our workshops are focused on nurturing children to become confident members of a group, empathetic individuals, as well as performers. Our method enables children the time to embed the skills they are developing each week before working towards a performance in the following term. Children always have the opportunity to share and perform their work to their peers in every workshop, developing confidence and communication skills.
Personalised Feedback
All our parents receive personalised half-termly written feedback on their child, to support conversations at home and help our ShowKids develop their confidence using new language and key terms.
An Independent East London Company
Our practitioners live and work in East London. We know our ShowKids and our parents well, and pride ourselves in the trusting relationships we have built with them. We think this is why 91% of our ShowKids have attended workshops for more than two years!
Holiday Courses
We provide affordable musical theatre and drama workshops in school holidays with work-friendly hours!
In our half-term and summer holiday performing arts courses, children have the opportunity to create an original performance inspired by a musical, play or topic. Children work alongside highly qualified performing arts practitioners to create their own scenes, songs and dances in an extremely creative and inclusive environment. Instruments are experimented with, props are made, set is designed and performance material is created without a prewritten text where children may feel constrained or restricted in what they can achieve.
Regular theatre trips and workshops led by industry professionals
We compliment our performing arts courses and drama lessons with regular theatre experiences. Through these the children are transported into the hearts and minds of the characters, recognising and understanding their actions and feelings which encourages communication and empathy. We often have guest actors from the West End, film and television lead our workshops. This gives children a real insight into the industry and the opportunity to ask questions about the life of an actor.
